Bob Darnall started his own sprinkler business in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1975. Eight years later he established Alpine Sprinklers in Wenatchee, Washington. He began working on his own, installing residential sprinkler systems with only a pick and shovel. His top priority was to deliver professional quality sprinkler systems. He would cut out strips of sod, dig narrow ditches, install the pipe and sprinkler heads, rake the dirt back, put the sod back, and level it with the lawn. Customers were impressed at the even coverage, head to head overlap design, and minimal damage done to the yard. As the business grew, Bob began installing systems for summer homes near Lake Chelan. By this time, he had purchased a pipe puller to help install the pipe in the lawn areas much faster. By 1988, business had reached a peak, and he moved to Issaquah to expand his business. Bob continued working as a one man operation for six more years, until his Chiropractor urged him to stop digging. Breakfast was usually at 12th Ave. Café in Issaquah. Bob knew a bus boy at the café named Juan. He loved his attitude, and saw that he was a good worker. He asked him if he’d be interested in working for him. Within a few weeks Juan started working at Alpine Sprinklers. Bob was so impressed with Juans’ work, he hired three of his brothers. Bob says, “Hardly a job goes by that the customer will not spend several minutes telling me what a great job my crew did and how hard they worked and how neat the installation was.” Work for Bob is now focused on giving estimates, managing jobs, and going over finished jobs with the customers.
Bob is also a certified backflow tester and is committed to performing backflow tests for all of Alpine Sprinklers' customers.
